Do the Tops of Maytag Dryers Come Off?

The inner parts of your Maytag dryer are surrounded by a case of protective metal panels. You might want to remove the top panel, which sometimes contains the door to the drum, to access some of the appliance's working parts for repair. It is possible using only a few common household tools. Choosing to repair your dryer at home might save you money if the appliance is outside of its warranty period.
  1. Parts Accessible Beneath the Top Panel

    • Opening the top panel of your Maytag dryer provides access to the top part of the drum, the drive belt, and the screws that the hold the plastic baffles to the inside of the drum in place. You may also be able to access some of the wiring at the back of the control panel depending on the particular design of Maytag dryer you own.
