My Frigidaire FWFB9100ES0 Does Not Spin or Drain

The product name for the Frigidaire FWFB9100ES0 model is the Tumble Action Washer. However, this machine will cease not only spinning action, but draining functions as well, if certain conditions and specifications are not met. You are right to initially assume the Frigidaire washer is in some way broken if the drum can't strain the water out clothes and if the pump cannot force dirty water out of the machine. Before calling for an expensive and unnecessary repair, Frigidaire suggests you do some initial troubleshooting that could remedy these problems.
  1. Not Spinning: Dispenser

    • The detergent, bleach and fabric-softener dispensers have a separate compartment near the top of the Frigidaire washer. The motor spins the drum during the agitation and spin cycles. However, your washer will not spin at all if the dispenser is even slightly ajar. Slowly, but firmly, push on the dispenser tray to make sure it is fully inserted into its compartment. Water pumps over the detergent in the dispenser, pushing it into the drum at the beginning of the cycle. If the drum does not spin as the soap washes out of the dispenser, your load of clothes may not receive an even and thorough cleansing.

    Not Spinning: Load

    • Top-loading washers typically have weight distribution and balancing issues if the clothes all gather in one area of the vertical drum. The Frigidaire Tumble Action front-loading washer has a horizontal drum and also can experience load balancing problems. Specifically, if the load is too small, the washer may not be able to spin the drum. Insert a couple of extra clothing items to add more weight and balance the load.

    Not Draining: Hose

    • Used and dirty water exits the Frigidaire washer through a simple drain hose. The chemicals in the detergent break down food, dirt and other debris on your clothes during the washing phase, but the drain hose can still develop blockages and obstructions over time. Find the drain hose on the back of the washing machine. It is the thick flexible hose in between the smooth and straight inlet hoses for the hot and cold water supplies. Make sure the hose is not kinked or bent to the point of restricting the flow of drain water out of the machine.

    Not Draining: Standpipe

    • The drain hose leads into the standpipe that rises out of the floor in the laundry room or garage where the Frigidaire washer is installed. This standpipe was probably installed when your home was originally built. The minimum height of the standpipe is 2 feet and the maximum height is 8 feet for your Frigidaire washing machine. Washers commonly have a problem with standpipes that are too high, when the drain pump cannot overcome the force of gravity to push the used water up through and out of the hose. If you cannot lower the standpipe, you may need to hire a contractor or plumber for assistance.
