Cut the electricity to the Frigidaire at the circuit breaker.
Remove the screws in the edges of the kick plate at the front of the Frigidaire. Pull down on the plate and tilt forward from the bottom to take the part off the Frigidaire.
Shine the flashlight under the bottom of the Frigidaire to locate the pump, which is connected with two wires and a drain hose routed through the cabinetry to the main drain pipe under your sink.
Place a folded old towel under the pump.
Squeeze the clamp on the rubber hose where it is attached to the pump, using pliers. Pull off the hose to check for clogs in the opening. The towel will absorb any water that may spill. Remove clogs in the valve outlet with the tip of the screwdriver to drag out the obstacle. Squeeze the hose toward the open end to force out clogs. If there are no clogs in the pump outlet or the drain hose, continue troubleshooting.
Disconnect the two wires on the pump's electrical terminals. Each wire is attached to a slip-on connector that pulls off the terminal.
Set the multimeter to test for continuity. On many meters, this will be the "RX1" setting.
Touch the two mutlimeter testers to the two terminals on the pump. A reading of 40 ohms is normal for most dishwasher pumps, with some fluctuation depending on the accuracy of your particular multimeter. The pump is defective if the reading is not around 40 ohms. In most cases, a defective pump will register zero or infinity on a multimeter.
