What Cubic Feet Is the GE Prodigy Washing Machine?

The GE Profile Prodigy Super Capacity Plus washer is no longer in production at the time of publication, the manufacturer reports. This applies to top-loading models WPSE4200AWW, which has 20 wash cycles, and the identically sized but more advanced WPSE4270AWW, which has 27 wash cycles. Both have a capacity of 3.2 cubic feet.
  1. Dimensions

    • Both models are 27 inches wide, 42 inches high and 25 1/2 inches deep. The "3.2 cubic feet" refers to the capacity of the tub, which has a "PermaTuf II" basket with a 20-year warranty. The approximate shipping weight is 160 pounds, and the height clearance, for the lid to lift up 90 degrees, is 51 inches.

    Cycles

    • Model 4200, which is colored "white-on-white," has a capacity for all standard cycles -- wash, spin, second rinse and extended spin -- while the more advanced 4700, colored "almond-on-almond," also has a second rinse extended spin. Both have four wash/rinse temperatures and four wash/spin speed combinations.

    Electrical Capacity

    • The Profile Prodigy models operate on 115 volts, and the power rating of the circuit breaker, or time delay fuse box, can be 15 or 20 amps.

    Fabric Cycles

    • With its capacity for four water levels, the machines can run several advanced cycles specific to fabrics. Both have eight cotton cycles depending on the length of soaking, and the degree of soiling involved, and both have a cycle for delicate fabrics set at "medium soil." They have three "easy care" cycles. The more advanced 4270 has a color stain guide and the ability to "spot spray."

    Companion Dryers

    • GE made two dryers to go alongside the Profile Prodigy washer, the 7-cubic-feet-capacity electric DPSR405EAWW and the identically sized gas DPSE592GAWW. Production of both has been discontinued at the time of publication.
