LP We25x0217 Dryer Installation

The LP We25x0217 is a conversion kit that allows homeowners to switch their dryer from natural to propane gas. All gas dryers come from the factory set up for natural gas. If you require propane, you can pay the installation people extra or do the conversion yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the dryer from its power outlet.

    • 2

Turn off the gas line to the dryer. This is typically a blue lever that's off when it's horizontal.

    • 3

Review your dryer’s owner’s manual and determine where the heating element is located. In a gas dryer, the heating unit is typically accessible through a back access panel. However, some models may require you to go through the front and pull out the drum. For instructions on this task, see the Resource section below.

    • 4

Unscrew the plug on the gas ignitor. It will be brass-colored and have a small nylon pin sticking out. Replace this plug with the new one from the LP We25x0217 kit.

    • 5

Unscrew the orifice metering plug located in the burner. This will also be brass-colored, sitting on a steel body. Replace it with the new plug from your kit.

    • 6

Remove the leak limiting device from the top of the burner harness and replace it with the blocking pin from your kit.

    • 7

Turn the gas back on and leak check the replaced parts by placing some soapy water over the area. If there are any bubbles, then you have a leak. If not, you can reassemble the dryer and test it out.
