Unplug the washing machine and tape the door closed. You will be lifting the top of the appliance, and you don't want the door to fall open.
Insert a putty knife roughly 6 1/2 inches from the right side of the washer into the gap between the top and front panels. Push inward to detach the clips holding the top panel in place. Repeat the process on the left side.
Look down inside the washing machine to get a good view of the suspension wires. The top of each wire ends in a hook that should be connected to the plastic holder. Spin the wire so the hook is not aligned with the gap in the plastic holder, if necessary.
Look for signs of damage along the suspension wire. You will need to replace snapped or damaged wires before using the appliance again. Give each one a gentle pull to ensure it is properly connected at both ends.
