How a Panasonic Foam Washing Machine Works

Panasonic Aquabeat washing machines are consumer-grade automatic clothes washers that have a unique foam cleaning cycle at the start of the normal laundry wash cycle. This foam washing feature is not available in all models made by Panasonic. At the time of publication, this line of washing machines was sold only in Thailand, Oman, Malaysia, Iran, Singapore, Qatar, Indonesia, UAE, Vietnam, India, Philippines and Kuwait. Panasonic foam washers are available in front-loading and top-loading configurations.
  1. Adding Detergent

    • Panasonic Aquabeat washing machines with the foam wash feature are equipped with a dispenser drawer designed for use with liquid detergent, bleach and liquid fabric softener. You can use powder detergent by inserting it directly in the wash bin, but the foaming action is not created unless you use liquid detergent, placing it specifically in the dispenser drawer.

    Foam Jet Nozzle

    • Unlike other washing machines, this line of Panasonic washing machines is designed with a foam jet nozzle. This nozzle works to turn the liquid laundry detergent into a dense foam. The location of the nozzle is at the top of the washer drum so that the foam, as it is created, falls down on top of the laundry.

    Foam Wash Cycle

    • The foam wash cycle is the first part of the laundry cycle on this machine. The foam jet nozzle converts the detergent into foam for this cycle. Due to the design of the foam jet nozzle, the foam comes out highly concentrated. The purpose of this cycle is to penetrate the fibers of the laundry to remove dirt and grime that is deep in the laundry items.

    Aquabeat Wash and Rinse

    • The foaming feature is in Panasonic's Aquabeat washing machines; but Aquabeat is also the name of a special cycle on the machines. The Aquabeat wash cycle activates the bottom agitator to removes the dirt and grime that the foam wash lifted up. After that, the Aquabeat rinse cycle starts. This part of the laundry cycle works to get rid of leftover detergent components that can get left in the fabrics. Since the concentrated foam works deep in the fibers, the Aquabeat cycle works to remove any leftover remnants of it that a regular wash-and-rinse cycle would miss.
