How to Install Indoor Venting in a Portable Dryer

Having your own portable electric dryer could mean no more visits to the laundromat. There is more to hooking up a dryer than plugging in the power cord. Clothes dryers emit an exhaust that is full of lint and moisture. Without some type of venting system, this could create a large mess. If you live in a building where it may not be feasible to install a permanent dryer vent duct -- such as an apartment building -- you can install an indoor vent to your portable dryer.

Instructions

  Slide the metal duct pipe fitting that came with the dryer over the exhaust port on the back of the dryer. Secure the fitting to the dryer with the screws provided. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

  Slide the spring clamps that came with the vent kit over each end of the flexible vent hose.

  Slide one end of the hose over the metal duct pipe fitting on the back of the dryer. Squeeze the tabs on the clamp with your fingers. Slide the clamp over the fitting. Release the tabs to secure the hose to the dryer.

  Slide the opposite end of the hose over the inlet fitting on the dryer duct reservoir cover. Squeeze the tabs on the clamp with your fingers. Slide the clamp over the fitting. Release the tabs to secure the hose to the cover.

  Attach the reservoir mounting bracket to the wall approximately 4 feet from the dryer exhaust port with the screws provided. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

  Lift the dryer vent reservoir and position it over the mounting bracket on the wall. Slide the tab on the back of the reservoir into the slot on the bracket. Fill the reservoir with water up to the mark.

  Push the dryer duct reservoir cover onto the reservoir. Twist the cover to lock it into place.
