How to Get the Cap Off a Frigidaire Washing Machine Model GLWS1349AS1

Making repairs to the tub or transmission of your Frigidaire GLWS1349AS1 sometimes requires the removal of the agitator from the washtub. There is a single bolt inside the center of the agitator that secures it to the spline shaft. Accessing the bolt involves getting the cap off that covers the bolt. Getting the cap off a Frigidaire washing machine does require some force due to the rubber seal around the outside perimeter of the cap.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Frigidaire washer's power cord from the outlet. Open the lid of the washer.

    • 2

Grab the softener dispenser on top of the agitator and remove it from the washer. The softener dispenser simply lifts off the agitator. You now have access to the agitator cap.

    • 3

Place a rag inside the top of the agitator and over the handle of the cap. The rag helps protect the cap handle from damage.

    • 4

Grasp the handle of the cap with the rag over it with a pair of pliers. Twist the handle right to left while pulling it out of the agitator. The twisting action helps break any suction seal between the rubber edge of the cap and the inside of the agitator.
