When performing repairs on any appliance, the first step is always disconnecting the appliance's power supply. The Frigidaire Laundry Center requires a 240-volt connection, which if not handled carefully has lethal consequences. To disconnect the power supply, unplug the appliance's power cord from the wall outlet. If the cord is inaccessible, turn off the breaker in your home's service panel.
If you have appliance repair experience, you know that a dispenser is placed on top of the agitator shaft, which covers the agitator cap. Once the agitator cap is removed, the agitator bolt, which secures the agitator shaft to the drive shaft, is accessible. Because of the compact nature of the Frigidaire Laundry Center, the agitator differs from many models of washing machines in that it is secured using the agitator cap itself.
The agitator cap is directly on top of the agitator and has a threaded underside. To remove the agitator cap, grasp the agitator base with one hand and rotate the cap counterclockwise to loosen. Once the agitator cap is removed, lift the washer found below the agitator cap off the agitator stem and set it aside.
With the agitator cap removed, the agitator is now loose. To remove the agitator from the Frigidaire Laundry Center's wash tub, grasp it with both hands and pull up firmly. Once the agitator is removed, place it on a flat, sturdy surface for inspection.
