Description of a Kenmore 80 Series Dryer

Kenmore is the house brand for Sears, Roebuck & Company. Sears has a number of different manufacturers produce appliances to Sears specifications and then labels and sells them through their stores. The Kenmore 80 Series dryer model is on the less expensive end of their line; it can be paired with a Series 80 washer.
  1. Family-Size

    • Like almost all dryers, the Kenmore 80 Series provides the consumer with a wide choice of drying styles. The machine is family size, with the ability to hold extra-large loads or large objects such as comforters. The five cycles and three temperature options can dry everything from delicates to heavy-duty work clothes quickly and safely. It has a cycle-end alarm that alerts you to remove the clothes so they don’t wrinkle while waiting.

    Different Controls

    • The dryer can either time-dry or be set to shut off when it senses the clothes are dry. It also can continue to tumble the clothes without heat. Two different controls allow you to choose from a wide variety of drying options. You can mix or match the drying length with the temperature and how dry you want the clothes to be when the cycle ends. A press of a large button starts the machine.

    Safety Features

    • The Series 80 has several safety features such as the automatic shutoff when the door is opened and easy access to the lint filter. The door opens from the front and is large enough to push wet clothes through easily and pull out large amounts of finished, dried clothes without tangling them together. The interior of the drum has three vanes that keep the clothes in motion during the tumbling.

    Trial and Error

    • The Series 80 comes with an adequate manual, but learning how to use the machine requires a bit of experience with a variety of clothes types. Opinions vary on what constitutes damp, mostly dry and completely dry clothes, so you may need to experiment with the settings. Sears has a good reputation for standing behind its products, and the Series 80 seems to be exactly what they market it as: a solid, well-performing dryer that is not too expensive but has many features.
