Unplug the power cord for the Magic Chef dryer from the electrical outlet before you begin working on it. Pull the lint screen out of the top of the dryer and remove the screws securing the lint screen bracket using a Phillips screwdriver.
Release the retaining clips for the dryer top by inserting a putty knife into the seam between the top and front panel. Raise the top of the dryer up and prop it against the wall. Unplug the door switch harness using a flat-head screwdriver to release the clip.
Remove the screws securing the front panel to the appliance on the inside top of the dryer using a nut driver. Lift up slightly on the front panel and pull it out away from the dryer frame. Push the idler arm aside under the dryer drum and release the belt from the motor pulley.
Grasp the belt at the top of the drum and pull the entire drum out of the Magic Chef dryer frame. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the seam and pry it forward to release the lower front panel from the frame if your dryer is one of the models with two front panels. Disconnect the door springs at each side of the dryer by unhooking them from the frame if your dryer has the two front panels.
