How to Disassemble a Magic Chef Dryer

When it comes to major appliances, there are many brands but fewer manufacturers. The Maytag Corporation Makes the Magic Chef dryer. Whirlpool owns the Maytag brand, so for repairs, instructions are the same for similar models of Maytag, Whirlpool and Magic Chef dryers. To make any repair to your Magic Chef dryer, the first thing you need to know is how to disassemble it. Once you take it apart, you are able to make any repair necessary. Making repairs to your dryer yourself is not only relatively easy to do, but can save you a lot of money on labor charges.

Instructions

      Unplug the power cord for the Magic Chef dryer from the electrical outlet before you begin working on it. Pull the lint screen out of the top of the dryer and remove the screws securing the lint screen bracket using a Phillips screwdriver.

      Release the retaining clips for the dryer top by inserting a putty knife into the seam between the top and front panel. Raise the top of the dryer up and prop it against the wall. Unplug the door switch harness using a flat-head screwdriver to release the clip.

      Remove the screws securing the front panel to the appliance on the inside top of the dryer using a nut driver. Lift up slightly on the front panel and pull it out away from the dryer frame. Push the idler arm aside under the dryer drum and release the belt from the motor pulley.

      Grasp the belt at the top of the drum and pull the entire drum out of the Magic Chef dryer frame. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the seam and pry it forward to release the lower front panel from the frame if your dryer is one of the models with two front panels. Disconnect the door springs at each side of the dryer by unhooking them from the frame if your dryer has the two front panels.
