Tap "Start/Pause" on the washer's control panel to interrupt the currently running cycle, and unplug the washer's power cord from the power outlet. Water that is currently in the cycle remains in the washer until the appliance is manually drained or the cycle is resumed.
Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from chemical exposure while handling the washer. Bleach or detergent from the blockage may get on your hands during the cleaning process and can stain or irritate your hands if it comes in direct contact with your skin.
Pull the drain hose located on the back of the washer out of the drainage pipe. Stick your finger in the drain hose to pull out obstructions in the hose manually, or use the sharp end of a wire hanger to remove blockage. Place the drain hose above an empty bowl to dispose of buildup in the hose.
Remove kinks or bends in the drain hose by straightening it out. A kink in the drain hose prevents proper drainage and results in interruptions during the draining process.
Insert the drain hose back into the drainpipe and adjust the hose to ensure the inner part of the hose is free of kinks.
Plug the washer's power cord back into the electric outlet and push "Start/Pause" to resume the drain cycle.
