How to Replace the Tub Bracket on Washing Machines

Modern washing machines use a combination of springs and brackets to support the internal tub. These springs and brackets enable the tub to function and complete its wash cycle. If your washing machine is constantly unbalanced or isn't functioning, it could be the result of a bad bracket. To replace the bracket, you would partially disassemble the washing machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your washing machine power cable.

    • 2

Pull the tabs at the ends of the control panel outward. This will expose the console screws on the control panel.

    • 3

Lift the control panel and unclip the internal clips.

    • 4

Lift the washer cabinet frame off of the unit to expose the tub.

    • 5

Unplug the bleach hose located at the side of the top of the tub.

    • 6

Lift the plastic ring off of the top of the tub. You can now see the metal brackets on the inside wall of the tub. There are springs connected to them.

Remove the damaged brackets with a wrench and unhook them from the springs.

    • 8

Fit new brackets in the ports and tighten them with your wrench. Connect the springs.
