How to Remove the Valve Assembly on a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer

The valve assembly on a Whirlpool Cabrio washer controls the flow of hot and cold water into the washer. The valve assembly is located immediately behind the back cover plate where the two water hoses attach to the threaded pipes protruding from the back of the Cabrio. These pipes are part of the valve assembly. Removing the valve assembly from the Cabrio takes less than an hour using basic tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the Cabrio electrical cord from the outlet.

    • 2

Twist the faucet knobs on the wall behind the Cabrio clockwise to shut off the water.

    • 3

Unscrew the two hoses from the rear of the Cabrio using pliers. Place the hose ends in the bucket to catch water and minimize the mess.

    • 4

Pull the Cabrio forward to get behind the appliance.

    • 5

Squeeze the clamp on the drain hose where it attaches to the back of the Cabrio, using pliers.

    • 6

Remove the screws in the back cover plate using a screwdriver. Pull off the cover plate and set it aside. You can now see the valve assembly, which is the component that includes the two threaded pipes for the water hoses.

    • 7

Slide off the two wires attached to the valve assembly, gripping the metal clip on the end of each wire.

    • 8

Squeeze the clamp on the rubber fill hose where it attaches to the valve assembly. Pull off this hose from the valve.

    • 9

Remove the screws in the mounting holes on the sides of the valve asssembly, which you can now remove from the Cabrio.
