How to Install a Sears Kenmore Stacking Steam Dryer Kit

Many Sears Kenmore front-loading washers and dryers are able to be stacked on top of one another -- great if you have limited space in your home. When stacking the appliances, you must use a stacking kit to ensure that they're securely connected. Due to the heavy weight of the washing machine, you must install the dryer on top of the washer. When stacking the appliances, enlist several able-bodied partners to help lift the dryer.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the top of the washing machine is clean and dry.

    • 2

Remove the backing from one of the side rails to expose the sticky foam adhesive on the side rail. Place the side rail on the top side of the washing machine. Ensure that the screw hole on the rear of the side rail is aligned with the screw hole on the top of the rear panel of the washing machine. Repeat for the other side rail.

    • 3

Press firmly on the rails and then install the screw in the back of each side rail.

    • 4

Lift the dryer and place it on top of the washing machine. (Again, a partner is necessary to help with this.) When placing the dryer on top of the washer, ensure that the feet are slightly in front of the foot brackets in the side rails. Slide the dryer back, toward the rear of the dryer, to lock the feet into the foot brackets.

    • 5

Align the front rail with the front of the washer and dryer, ensuring that the tabs are facing up. Insert the rail between the washer and dryer, then push it back to position the rail on top of the feet of the dryer.

    • 6

Install the screws on the side of the front rail to secure the rail and dryer in place.
