The Frigidaire dryer will not heat if the selected cycle is “Air Dry” because this setting only tumbles the laundry in the drum instead of heating the clothes while tumbling. Rotate the cycle selection knob clockwise to a different setting, such as “Normal,” then push the “Start” button for a few seconds until the dryer starts to tumble.
Dryers use a lot of power in order to work properly, and the Frigidaire dryer is no exception. The dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers, and if one of these is blown or tripped, the dryer will probably power up but will not have sufficient power to heat. You will need to check the household power supply and either reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse that has blown to get the dryer heating again. In addition, you might want to use a volt meter to make sure the outlet where the dryer is plugged in is getting 240 volts of power. Contact an electrician if you are not sure how to use a volt meter or have any other questions.
Sometimes if the air supply is blocked, the dryer heat can be reduced to the point where the dryer does not seem to be heating at all. Make sure you have cleaned out the lint screen in the dryer door, as well as the exhaust vent. This vent is usually on the outside of the home and can get pretty clogged with lint and debris over time, which prevents air flow. In addition, keep the area around the entire dryer free of any objects or material, as this can also interfere with adequate air supply.
This dryer is a gas unit, which means the dryer needs adequate gas supply in order to heat the unit. The gas supply valve is near the dryer, either behind or next to the dryer, and should be turned to the “Open” position. Slowly turn the valve to “Open” if the valve is closed. Note that if you smell gas at any time, disconnect power to the dryer and leave the house. Call your gas company for assistance.
