Check the fuses or circuit breakers in the home, as the Kenmore dryer can operate if a fuse or circuit breaker has tripped or blown but it will not heat. Reset or replace as necessary.
Find the gas valve behind or next to the dryer and turn the valve counterclockwise to ensure the gas supply is completely open to provide gas and heat.
Select a different heating temperature or dry cycle. “Air Dry” or “Ultra Delicate” selections do not supply heat during the cycle.
Do not run the dryer in conditions lower than 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The Kenmore dryer cannot adequately heat or run in near-freezing temperatures.
Clean out the lint screen and the exhaust vent to improve air and heat flow. Look inside the dryer for fabric softener sheets that may be blocking the grille and impeding heat. Remove any remaining sheets.
Contact Kenmore for service if the above troubleshooting techniques do not restore heat to the dryer, as the igniter, gas valve or thermal fuse may have burnt out and should be repaired by a service professional.
