A Frigidaire Affinity With a Buzzing Sound

The Frigidaire Affinity dryer is a home appliance that features an ultra-capacity drum for large loads of clothes and the copyrighted TimeWise technology to improve drying times based on the size of the load. A buzzing sound during the drying cycle indicates a worn out motor, which requires professional repair. The dying motor will need to be replaced in order to restore optimal dryer performance.
  1. Cause

    • Continuous use of the dryer gradually wears down the motor, which leads to the audible buzzing noise during operation. The noise typically starts immediately after pushing the dryer's start button and continues until the dryer is shut off and serviced. Although the dryer is still able to effectively dry clothing stored in its drum, the motor eventually stops working if the dryer is not fixed.

    Repair

    • The Frigidaire Affinity is protected with a one to two-year warranty for in-home repair or replacement if the dryer cannot be fixed. Frigidaire offers an extended service agreement option to extend the warranty by an additional three years, which ensures a resolution regardless of when the motor begins to wear down.

    Prevention

    • You can reduce stress on the dryer by cleaning the lint filter after finishing a load of clothes. This helps maintain the dryer's airflow and prevents excessive running time caused by clogged lint filters. The lint filter is located on the bottom edge of the dryer's door, and can be cleaned by wiping the lint off with your fingers.

    Maintenance

    • An authorized Frigidaire service technician should be called after 18 months to perform routine maintenance that includes cleaning the moisture sensor, dryer drum and exhaust duct. The in-home service is free as long as your dryer is under warrant, and is available by calling 800-944-9044.
