Pull the power cord out of the electrical outlet. Pull the washer away from the wall. You will need to be able to get behind it to work. Remove water from the washtub by dipping a small bowl into it and then pouring the water in a bucket. Do this before you move the machine.
Pry the end caps off the control panel using a putty knife. Remove the screws from under the end caps using a Phillips screwdriver. If it is a newer model, the control panel screws may be at the back of the machine rather than under the end caps.
Rotate the control up and push it toward the back of the machine. Squeeze the clip on the wiring harness under the control panel and unplug it. Release the retaining clips for the cabinet under the control panel using a flat tip screwdriver. Tilt the cabinet backward and pull it off the washer frame.
Release the pump retaining clips using a flat tip screwdriver. Pull the pump away from the motor shaft. Disconnect the hoses from the pump using pliers to release the clamps. Discard the old drain pump. Place the new pump in the machine and connect the hoses to it. Install the hose clamps with pliers.
Push the pump onto the motor shaft and lock the retaining clips in place. Put the washer cabinet on the frame and install the retaining clips under the control panel to secure it. Plug the wiring harness in for the control panel. Rotate the control panel to the front of the machine and install the retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet and push the machine against the wall. Run the washer for a short cycle while empty to test the new water pump.
