LG Fridge Panel Troubleshooting

LG is an international manufacturer of consumer electronics, such as TVs and home cinema systems as well as apliances, such as washing machines, freezers and refrigerators. LG refrigerators can experience a range of problems, which result in an error message appearing on the unit’s display panel. Some of these problems can be fixed by unplugging the refrigerator, but others may require professional repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your LG refrigerator and reconnect it after a few minutes, which can sometimes get rid of the ER/FS error code. This code indicates there is a sensor error in the freezer area of your LG refrigerator. This error is often caused by a short or cut circuit wire inside the refrigerator, which should only be fixed by a qualified repairman.

Look for an ER/RS or ER/DS error code. The ER/RS code is usually caused by failing circuits in the refrigerator sensor. The ER/DS code indicates a shorted circuit in the defrost sensor mechanism of your LG refrigerator. Both of these codes can sometimes be fixed by unplugging the unit for a few minutes. If the codes persist, however, contact LG directly for assistance.

Check for the ER/DH error code if the defrost mode of your LG refrigerator isn’t working. This typically occurs when the unit fails to reach 46 degrees Fahrenheit within two hours of the defrost feature initiating. This problem is often caused by a blown temperature fuse or a failure in the defrost heating mechanism. Contact LG customer support directly to arrange a repair.

Identify fan motor failures by looking for the ER/FF or ER/CF error codes. A failure in the fan motor or the freezer department will cause these panel messages. This failure is usually caused by an inefficient motor, severed leads or wires becoming entangled in the fan mechanism. The error message appears if there is no signal from the fridge motor after a minute of the fridge receiving power. Fan motor repairs should only be attempted by a qualified repairman.

Unplug the unit for a few minutes if your LG fridge panel produces an ER/CO error message. A shorted wire leading from the main printed circuit board and the display circuit panel usually causes this problems. Contact LG directly if the problem persists.
