How to Change Out the Door Chute on a Whirlpool ED25QF

The Whirlpool ED25QF refrigerator comes with an ice dispenser built-in into the freezer door. Depending on the upgrades, the dispenser may feature both water and ice with one dispenser or they may have separate dispensers. The dispenser has a chute that you press your cup against to notify the dispenser that you want ice or water. The chute is made of plastic and over time the plastic may crack or break off, which will require replacement. The replacement of the chute will only take you about 10 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Whirlpool ED25QF refrigerator’s power cord from the power outlet.

    • 2

Line a flat-head screwdriver up to one of the two slots on the bottom of the exterior ice dispenser’s trim panel.

    • 3

Turn the screwdriver slowly until the bottom of the trim panel pops away from the refrigerator and then repeat for the other slot.

    • 4

Push the trim panel upward, from the bottom, until it slides away from the ice dispenser.

    • 5

Unscrew the two screws along the side of the chute by using a Phillips screwdriver. If it is the water dispenser, there may be a screw located in the center of the chute along with the spigot. You can unscrew the screw and remove the water spigot.

    • 6

Pull the chute away from the dispenser.

    • 7

Line the new chute up and screw it into place. For the water spigot, line the spigot back up to the insertion hole and then screw it back into place.

    • 8

Line the trim panel back up at the top of the dispenser and then slide it back into place.

    • 9

Push the bottom of the trim panel into place until it clicks into the secured position.

    • 10

Plug the power cord back into the power outlet.
