How to Install the Door Dispenser Kit on a Whirlpool Refrigerator

If the water and ice dispenser attached to the front of your Whirlpool refrigerator freezer door no longer operates, you can remove it to see if it needs to be replaced. Door dispenser kits can be ordered from the Whirlpool manufacturer or purchased from an online retailer.

Instructions

      Move your Whirlpool refrigerator away from the wall, then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

      Pull out the bottom drip tray from the freezer door ice dispenser and set it aside.

      Remove the two Torx-15 screws from the bottom front of the dispenser using a Torx driver.

      Lift up the front dispenser panel from the bottom, then disconnect the wire harness from the panel by pulling it out with your hand.

      Remove the three Torx-15 screws holding the dispenser in place, then tilt the dispenser part forward.

      Pull out the water tube from the top and turn the dispenser to the side while pulling it out.

      Disconnect the white connector and six-pin connector from the back of the dispenser, then remove the entire dispenser from the door.

      Inspect the dispenser for any damage, such as cracks or broken parts. Insert the new dispenser kit into the door.

      Connect the six-pin connector and white connector to the back right corner of the new dispenser kit part.

      Connect the water tube to the back middle of the dispenser kit, then push the dispenser all the way in.

      Reinsert the three screws into the front of the dispenser, then place the dispenser cover back on.

      Reinsert the two bottom screws into the dispenser cover, and place the drip tray back on. Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet.
