How to Replace Door Tubing on a GE Profile Refrigerator

When you close your GE Profile refrigerator door, the unit seals and food is kept cool. The refrigerator is able to do this via the tubing lining the inside of the door. If the tubing is loose or damaged, air might escape, which can cause food spoilage and increase your energy costs. The good news is you can remove and replace a damaged seal on your Profile in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your GE Profile refrigerator and open the door.

    • 2

Pop the door tubing off its retaining strips on the door. Use the tip of a putty knife to pop the tubing off if need be.

    • 3

Pop all areas of the tubing off the door and remove it.

    • 4

Fit a new piece of tubing over the interior door frame.

    • 5

Pop the corners of the tubing into place with your fingers.

    • 6

Run your fingers along the frame of the door, snapping the tubing into the retainer strips as you go. You will be finished when there are no gaps between the tubing and the door.
