How to Clean Out a Pipe Valve for the Ice Maker

The water line running to the ice maker in your refrigerator connects with the help of a valve. Over time it is possible for this valve to accumulate gunk and become clogged. Without water flow to the ice maker, the whole unit can shut down. In these instances many people call a repairman, but you can actually open up the clogged valve and clean it yourself.

Unplug your refrigerator and locate the water supply shutoff valve in your kitchen. This valve is likely located under the sink. Turn the valve off to shut off the water supply.
