How to Remove a GE GSL25JFPABS Freezer

Standing almost 6 feet tall, the General Electric GSL25JFPABS side-by-side refrigerator is one of the more cumbersome kitchen appliances, making moving it to a new house an awkward task. Though it is a simple process, properly preparing the refrigerator for removal makes all the difference when it comes time to heave the appliance into the truck.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the appliance forward a few feet and unplug the power cord from the outlet. Empty the appliance of all its edible contents, placing them in another refrigerator or freezer.

    • 2

Lift out the shelves, door bins and crisper drawers from the fresh food and freezer compartments and place them to one side. Wrap the shelves and drawers in bubble wrap to secure them during transit.

    • 3

Turn the appliance's cold water shut-off valve, which is found by following the water pipe from the back of the appliance to the wall, to the "Off" position and unscrew the water pipe with a pair of pliers.

    • 4

Seal the refrigerator's doors closed with packing tape and roll up the cold water supply line. Consider wrapping the appliance with bubble wrap or, in a pinch, a sheet to prevent scratches during shipping.
