My Kenmore Side-By-Side Is Not Getting Water to the Door To Make Ice

The Kenmore refrigerator requires an active water line connection to cycle water through the appliance for water dispensing and ice making, and may experience connection issues if your water supply line is not properly configured for use. The water supply line connects to the back of the refrigerator, and creates ice within 24 hours after the initial water line setup. Contact your water supplier if your refrigerator remains unable to receive water through the water supply line because there may be a problem with the supply line rather than the refrigerator.

Instructions

    • 1

Rotate the refrigerator so its back is facing you. Locate the water supply line near the bottom of the appliance.

    • 2

Check the compression nut on the water supply line for tightness. The compression nut is a metal octagonal-shaped part around the water supply line that secures the connection between the refrigerator and your home's water line.

    • 3

Twist the compression nut clockwise to increase tightness around the water supply line until it stops turning. Perform a half-turn on the compression nut with the wrench to complete the tightening process.

    • 4

Rotate the shutoff valve counterclockwise on the water supply line. The shutoff valve shuts off the water flow from the supply line to the refrigerator, and is turned on when fixing or moving the refrigerator. The shutoff valve must be in the off -- counterclockwise -- position in order to provide water to the ice maker.

Press and hold "Filter Reset" for three seconds to reset the refrigerator's water filter to ensure the refrigerator is receiving water properly after a filter change. The filter change light turns on when the filter needs to be replaced, and remains on until the reset button is pressed.
