Unplug the refrigerator power cord from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator unit away from the wall so you have access to the back of the refrigerator. When moving the refrigerator, ensure that you do not stretch the water line from the house pipe to the refrigerator.
Find the silver access panel to the HV board on the back of the unit. The access panel is near the center bottom of the back of the refrigerator. Remove the four screws securing the access panel with a 1/4-inch nut driver. Pull the access panel away from the refrigerator.
Pull the clear plastic cover from the HV board with your fingers. Some models require carefully prying the cover off with a flat-head screwdriver.
Place masking tape around each of the four wires connecting to the HV board. Label each piece of tape with the wire location on the board with a pencil. Squeeze the tabs on each wire connector and pull the connectors away from the HV board.
Check for release locking tabs on the sides of the HV board. Press the tabs inward to release the board from the refrigerator. If you do not see release tabs, slide the board to the right to disengage it from the refrigerator. Pull the HV board out of the unit.
Insert the new HV board in the reverse order of removal. Slide it to the left until it locks in place if you slid the board out. Push the board firmly into place if your board has release tabs.
Slip the connectors for each wire over the proper lead on the HV board. Remove the masking tape from each of the wires.
Push the plastic cover back over the new board and reattach the access panel with the retaining screws. Slide the refrigerator back to its position and plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
