Troubleshooting the Frigidaire Side-by-Side Water Dispenser

A Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser right in the door can be a real convenience, at least when that dispenser is working. If you press the dispense button for ice or water but get no response, you want to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Since a number of things can cause a Frigidaire ice and water dispenser to stop working, it is best to use a step-by-step approach to troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the doors of the Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator and locate the ice and water dispenser. Open the door to the dispenser.

    • 2

Find the wire signal arm in the corner of the ice and water dispenser. Flip the signal arm down and up, then return it to the up, or "On," position. The ice and water dispenser will not operate if the signal arm is in the down, or "Off," position. Flipping the arm resets it and allows the water to start flowing again.

    • 3

Look under the sink and find the water valve running to the Frigidaire refrigerator. Check the position of the valve and make sure it is turned on.

    • 4

Check the waterline and make sure it is not kinked or twisted. Straighten the waterline out and try the water dispenser again.

    • 5

Examine the valve on the waterline running into the Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator. Use a soft cloth dipped in warm water to clean the valve. If the valve is still not dispensing water it will need to be replaced.
