How to Troubleshoot a Samsung RF26VABBP

Refrigerators with the freezer portion on the bottom allow for easier access to the fridge portion of the appliance without having to crouch, and often also increased storage space in the freezer. The Samsung RF26VABRP, manufactured in the late '90s, combines the bottom freezer design with French doors for the fridge portion, and includes an external ice and water dispenser. Some problems you might encounter with this model are inadequate cooling in the fridge, the dispenser not dispensing water and ice properly, or frost forming in the freezer.

Instructions

  1. Fridge Not Cold Enough

    • 1

Confirm that the power cord is connected to a working power outlet.

    • 2

Press the "Fridge/Power Cool" button on the control panel to adjust the temperature to a lower setting.

    • 3

Make sure the fridge is positioned properly. It should not be near a heat source or in sunlight, and there needs to be enough clearance between the wall and the back of the fridge to allow for air circulation.

    Water and Ice Dispenser Problems

    • 4

Wait 12 hours after installing the water supply line before you attempt to dispense ice.

    • 5

Make sure the water line is firmly connected and the shut-off valve is fully open.

    • 6

Press "Power Freeze/Freezer" on your control panel to decrease the freezer temperature to speed up freezing time for ice. If you are having trouble with water dispensing, check that the fridge temperature is not too low as water intended for drinking may be freezing as well.

    • 7

Check all water line tubing for kinks that might be preventing water flow.

    Frost in the Freezer

    • 8

Make sure all air vents are clear of obstructions.

    • 9

Spread your frozen items evenly within the freezer to allow for air circulation around them.

    • 10

Make sure to close the freezer drawer firmly after every use.
