My Frigidaire Professional Series Ice Maker Is Not Working

There is often a fairly simple reason when your Frigidaire Professional Series ice maker is not working properly. You'll have to do a little troubleshooting, but may discover that the problem is due to an improper connection or a switch in the wrong position.
  1. Power Supply

    • Lower the wire signal arm inside the freezer to make sure the ice maker is turned on. This signal arm gradually moves upward and stops at the top when the ice bucket fills with ice. The wire arm sometimes will get stuck at the top. Simply press it down to turn the ice maker back on. Check the breaker box to make sure the switch for the kitchen is flipped to "On."

    Water Line

    • Move the refrigerator away from the wall and check the water line connection at the back of the appliance. Tighten the connection at the bottom of the refrigerator with your hand to make sure it is tight. Use a wrench to tighten if you find a leak after hand-tightening. Check to make sure the water supply line is not kinked or leaking, preventing the ice maker from receiving enough water pressure.

    Filter Issues

    • The water filter may be clogged or not fully inserted and not allowing water to flow into the ice maker. You should change the water filter at least once every six months. To remove the old water filter, flip the ice maker switch to "Off," then press on the base of the filter. The filter pops out and you then can insert the new filter by pressing it into place. Push the filter until it clicks.

    Frequency of Use

    • When an ice maker is used infrequently, chances are greater that the ice will stick together. Because the ice is clumped, it may not fit into the dispenser chute. Ice sometimes rests on the dispenser door at the end of the chute and is not able to exit the chute. In either of these instances, use a plastic utensil to break up the ice so that it is able to freely flow into and out of the chute.
