It's a tedious job, but it has to be done. If your Whirlpool refrigerator's V shaped condenser coil is located underneath the appliance, cleaning it can seem a little daunting. However, with a little ingenuity - not to mention your vacuum cleaner - you should be able to restore it to pristine condition. This is important from a hygiene point of view, but also has advantages when it comes to your household finances. Heat drawn out of the refrigerator is released by the condenser coil, so allowing it to become insulated with a layer of dust means it will have to work harder to keep the interior cool, and will therefore use more electricity.

1
Remove the toe plate at the base of the Whirlpool refrigerator to gain access to the v-shaped condenser coil. Lie on the floor, and shine your flashlight in the coil's direction. This will enable you to see where the worst of the dirt is located.

Plug in your vacuum cleaner, attach the crevice nozzle to the handle, and switch it on. Hold the flashlight in one hand, and use the other to guide the nozzle around the coil, removing all loose grime.

Examine the coil carefully for trapped dust. Loosen the dust with the condenser brush, and then remove the loosened dirt with your vacuum cleaner. Inspect the coil once more to make sure all dirt is gone before replacing the toe plate.
