The GE Profile refrigerator receives water from your water supply line to send water to the ice maker and water dispenser, and includes a shutoff valve that allows you to manually turn off the water from the supply line. Refrigerator maintenance requires temporarily disabling the water supply from the refrigerator, and enables you to remove parts from the water supply line for replacement or cleaning. Once disabled, the refrigerator is unable to dispense ice or water until the shutoff valve is placed back onto the water supply line.
