How to Cover Up Scratches on Stainless Steel Appliances

Stainless-steel appliances are expensive items, so scratching one is likely to cause you some stress. GE says stainless-steel scratches cannot be repaired, and it advises appliance customers to replace the damaged parts. The Specialty Steel Industry of North America says purchasing a replacement part is usually more cost-effective than hiring a professional refinishing firm to restore the appliance to its original condition. If you can live with a less-than-perfect finish, you can try to cover up the scratches yourself. While abrasive pads can help hide scratches, they can also cause them, so you should never use abrasive pads or cleansers for routine cleaning.
