My Frigidaire FRS26RLECSG Fan Is Always Running

The Frigidaire FRS26RLECSG is a side-by-side refrigerator with features like digital temperature controls, automatic water and ice dispenser, and adjustable shelves, as well as typical refrigerator components such as a condenser fan and compressor to operate and maintain refrigerator temperature. If the fan seems to be running constantly, there are a variety of potential reasons why.
  1. Warm Weather

    • When the outside temperature is warm or humid, the Frigidaire refrigerator must work harder to maintain the set temperature. For this reason, the refrigerator will run more in warm weather, and this is not considered a problem. Try to keep the doors closed as much possible to reduce any additional warm air entering the compartments, which causes the refrigerator to work even harder.

    Recent Installation

    • Once the refrigerator is installed after purchase, there is a time period of approximately 12 hours during which the refrigerator is working to cool down. This period may last longer if the weather is warm or if the water line is newly installed and the freezer is working to cool to ice-making temperatures. Keep the doors closed while the refrigerator cools down to shorten the amount of time the fan runs.

    Doors Opened Frequently

    • Any time the refrigerator doors are opened on a regular basis, warm air enters the refrigerator. The more this happens, the more the refrigerator has to run to stay at cooling temperatures. In addition, if large amounts of food are placed inside, the refrigerator must work to cool back down. The fan will run until the temperature stabilizes.

    Door Gasket

    • Check the door gasket if the weather isn’t particularly warm, the refrigerator was not recently installed and if the doors are not opened constantly. The gasket may be dirty, which allows air to leak out because the seal is not firm. Clean with a damp cloth and dry. Contact Frigidaire if the door gasket seems damaged or broken.

    Condenser

    • The condenser gets dirty over time, reducing air flow and increasing total running time. Disconnect power to the Frigidaire refrigerator and use a vacuum cleaner attachment to dust the condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator. Contact Frigidaire if the condenser seems to run more often than needed even after troubleshooting or cleaning.
