Replacing the Ice Maker in the KitchenAid Superba Refrigerator

Many models of KitchenAid Superba refrigerators have an automatic ice dispenser built into the freezer compartment of the appliance. KitchenAid refrigerators are manufactured by Whirlpool, and as such, include a Whirlpool modular ice maker in the freezer compartment. The ice maker is designed to function for about five years, at which point it must be replaced. Rather than hiring a service technician to replace your ice maker after it dies, replace it yourself and reduce the downtime of the refrigerator.

Unplug the your KitchenAid Superba refrigerator's power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Open the freezer door and loosen the two screws above the ice maker, securing the ice maker to the freezer's wall.

Lift the ice maker up and off of the two screws that were loosened, passing the screws through the eye holes on the ice maker brackets.

    • 4

Pull the ice maker toward the center of the freezer so that the wire connector pulls away from the rear wall.

    • 5

Depress the tab on the ice maker wire connector, and then pull the ice maker wire connector out of the refrigerator wire harness. Remove the ice maker from the freezer compartment.

    • 7

Hang the ice maker on the mounting screws, and then tighten the screws to secure the ice maker to the sidewall of the freezer.

    • 8
