If the Superba refrigerator suddenly loses power and the power does not come back on, check the refrigerator power cord. Make sure the power cord is plugged completely into a grounded three-prong outlet. KitchenAid recommends the use of a 115 volt, 60 Hz, AC only outlet without other appliances sharing the outlet for the best operation of the refrigerator. Do not use an extension cord with the refrigerator, as this will not supply adequate power to the unit.
After you have determined that the Superba refrigerator is connected to an outlet, check the power of the outlet by plugging in a different appliance and turning the second appliance on. If there is no power to the second appliance either, disconnect the second appliance and replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker. Note that KitchenAid recommends the use of a 15 or 20 ampere fuse with the refrigerator. Contact an electrician for information or support regarding your home electrical system.
Move on to the refrigerator temperature controls if there is active power to the refrigerator and the power cord is firmly plugged in to the outlet. The temperature controls are located in the upper portion of the refrigerator compartment. If either or both of the freezer and refrigerator controls are positioned to “Off” or “0,” then the refrigerator will not cool and may seem to have lost power. Slide each temperature control lever to the desired cooling temperature and shut the refrigerator and freezer doors.
After you have determined that there is power to the Superba refrigerator and the temperature controls are set properly, allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to cool back down. If there is still no power and the refrigerator is not running or cooling after that time, contact KitchenAid for service. The motor, compressor, overload or thermostat may have failed and will need to be serviced.
