Troubleshooting for the Sears Coldspot Refrigerator Water Dispenser

The Kenmore Cold Spot is a refrigerator produced and sold for Sears and Lowe's stores. It is a side-by-side refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser in the left-side door. If your refrigerator stops producing ice, there are several possible causes. With your manual in hand, take some time and do some troubleshooting yourself -- you might save yourself some money by resolving the issue without a pricey service call.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the refrigerator and slide it away from the wall for easier access to the back of the refrigerator.

    • 2

Make sure the refrigerator is connected to your water supply. Check the connection of the hose at the water shut-off valve and the back of the refrigerator. If either side is loose, tighten the connections with a pair of pliers.

    • 3

Look for a kink in the water line. If the hose is kinked, unscrew the hose from the water shut-off valve and straighten out the hose. Reattach the hose to the water shut-off valve.

    • 4

Check the ice maker arm. If the ice maker arm is up, then the ice maker is turned off. Flip the arm to the down position to turn the ice maker on.

    • 5

Examine the water line shut-off valve. Make sure the valve is open by turning it counterclockwise as far as it will go.

    • 6

Inspect the ice dispenser. If there are ice cubes trapped in the dispenser, dislodge the ice with a plastic or rubber spatula.
