How to Adjust the Timer on an Ice Maker

The timer on your ice maker determines how often the unit makes ice and how much water it uses to make that ice. If you find that your ice maker is making too much or too little ice for your needs, you can adjust the timing screw to reduce or increase the amount of water and change the timing of ice production.

Instructions

    • 1

Pry the front cover of the ice maker off carefully, using a small flat-head screwdriver placed between the cover and the body of the unit.

    • 2

Locate the set screw that controls how much water flows into the ice maker. This set screw should be located at the front of the ice maker and at about the same height as the shut-off arm.

    • 3

Turn the screw clockwise to decrease the amount of water flowing into the unit and make ice more slowly. Turn the set screw counterclockwise to increase the water flow and make ice more quickly.
