GE Profile PWR04FANBS Is Not Cooling

The GE Profile PWR04FANBS is a wine cooler with adjustable electronic controls, a clear glass door, removable shelves, interior lighting, a lock on the door and a capacity for 29 wine bottles. While the wine cooler can be set to specific cooling temperatures beneficial to wine storage, if the wine cooler is not cooling properly, some troubleshooting might be needed.
  1. Power Supply

    • If the GE Profile wine cooler is not cooling at all, check the power supply. Make sure the power cord is completely plugged in and the outlet is working. If other appliances nearby or plugged into the outlet are not working either, there may be a power failure. Wait for power to come back on, and the wine cooler will become cool again. Reset or replace the fuse or circuit breaker if the rest of the home has power but the circuit where the wine cooler is connected does not.

    Power Failure

    • If a power failure occurs, the wine cooler will automatically reset to the “Red Wine” setting. If you do not want the Red Wine setting to be selected, press “White Wine” or “Custom Temp” to change the temperature setting.

    Temperature Control Setting

    • The wine cooler temperature settings must be programmed for wine to cool as desired. Press “Red Wine” for storing red wine, “White Wine” for white wines or “Custom Temp” if both red and white wines are stored. Use the arrow buttons to set the desired temperature, which GE recommends at 50 degrees Fahrenheit if both red and white wine bottles are stored.

    Operational Factors

    • Note that when large amounts of wine are placed inside the cooler, the cooler may take longer to return to the preset temperature program. Warm weather or frequent door openings may also have this effect. Move the wine cooler away from any walls or other furniture or appliances for proper air flow, and make sure the door is fully closed.
