If your Amana appliance is new, the production of ice takes time. After initial installation, the freezer needs to cool enough for the ice to stay frozen. This takes 24 hours. And full ice production takes 72 hours from the initial installation. Once this period passes, you should see your ice maker filling.
For a newly installed refrigerator that is not producing ice, check your water supply line. Straighten out any kinks in the line. Kinks can prevent water from reaching the ice maker. The water supply valve also must be open.
If you do not have the ice maker on, it will not fill with ice cubes. Some Amana models have an “on” switch that you must select. For other models, the ejector arm must be placed in the down position to trigger the ice maker on.
As the ice maker is making ice, some of the cubes can get stuck and jam the ejector arm. When this happens, it prevents the creation of new ice cubes. Use a plastic utensil to reach in and dislodge the jammed ice so that ice making will resume.
Removing a large amount of ice in one day can make it seem as if the ice maker is not filling. The ice making process is time-consuming, and it takes 24 hours for the ice maker to replenish the ice cubes. Give your ice maker the needed time to fill back up.
