How to Change a Thermostat Defrost for a GE Fridge

Newer GE refrigerators have an automatic defrost cycle for the freezer compartment to maintain the amount of ice in the compartment. The cycle can be configured for a manual defrost to eliminate ice buildup. The control panel on the front of the refrigerator door provides access to the freezer thermostat, which is configurable for manual defrosting or increasing the freezer's current setting. Once adjusted, the freezer gradually melts the ice in its compartment and drains the water into a drip pan.
