Look to make sure the refrigerator is still plugged in if the Frigidaire is not cooling and is making a buzzing sound. The power cord might have fallen out of the power outlet, which means the compressor cannot run and the refrigerator cannot cool. Push the plug into the outlet firmly. If the power cord is plugged in, reset or replace the circuit breaker or fuse as needed.
When a refrigerator has power but has been turned off, the unit will buzz and will not cool. Check the temperature controls, either on the freezer door control panel or inside the refrigerator compartment. Use the arrow keys next to the “Freezer Temp” and “Refrigerator Temp” displays to turn down the internal temperature. Recommended temperatures are approximately 0 degrees Fahrenheit for the freezer and 35 degrees Fahrenheit for the refrigerator. Turn the temperature control knobs past “0” to the desired setting on control knob or sliding lever models. Give the refrigerator between eight and 24 hours to cool.
The condenser coils in the rear of the refrigerator get very dirty over time, which slows operation, can prevent cooling and even make noise if the coils are dirty enough. Disconnect power to the fridge and move the unit away from the wall to access the rear. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush tool to clean the condenser coils. The coils are a thin, black radiator-like device located under the condenser fan. Clean the condenser fan as well with the vacuum brush attachment.
If the refrigerator continues to buzz and not cool after cleaning the components and checking the power and temperature controls, contact Frigidaire for service. The compressor or the start relay may be damaged or broken and in need of service or repair.
