Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water. You will be handling electrical wiring, and there is a risk of shock if you keep the power connected.
Open both doors 90 degrees and have an assistant hold them there. Crouch down and remove the pair of screws holding the toe grille. Pull on the outer corners and set the grille to one side.
Remove all the food from the ice maker door shelves and take out the ice maker bucket.
Locate the flexible water pipe running to the ice maker door, behind the toe grille. Slide the colored collar toward the connection and separate the two pieces.
Remove the screws holding the wiring clips in place, using a 1/4-inch hex socket wrench. Disconnect the plugs at the end of the wires and pass them through the metal plate.
Close both doors and have your assistant support the weight of the ice maker door. Remove the screws holding the upper hinge to the top of the appliance, using a 3/16-inch Allen wrench.
Lift the ice maker door carefully off the lower hinge with the help of your assistant. Place the door on a soft surface, such as a towel, to avoid scratches.
