My Samsung RS267LASH Refrigerator Is Leaking Water on the Right Side

Samsung refrigerators have a digital display, filtered ice and water, and a multi-flow air filter. Other than water and ice from the dispenser, water should not be found in the refrigerator. However, if water leaks from the right side of the refrigerator, troubleshooting steps will be needed to locate the source of the water leak and stop it.
  1. Water Line Connection

    • Check the rear of the refrigerator if the water is coming around the right side of the refrigerator. Make sure the water line is fully inserted into the water coupler and that the connections are firm. Tighten any connections that seem to be dripping, and examine the water tubing for signs of puncture, damage or any other leak sources. Contact Samsung for service if the water line needs to be replaced or repaired.

    Water Filter

    • The water filter is in the upper-right corner of the Samsung refrigerator. While the water filter should not leak when properly inserted, a loose filter connection can cause water leaks. Turn the filter counterclockwise slowly until the filter slides out; then line up the filter with the housing and slide the filter back in. Turn clockwise 90 degrees until the print mark on the cover matches the mark on the housing and the filter locks into place. Samsung recommends the use of Samsung brand water filters to reduce the chance of water leaks.

    Defrost Drain

    • The defrost drain, which looks like a hole on the back wall of the refrigerator, may get clogged and back up, which can create a leak. Clear the blockage by pouring hot water mixed with baking soda down the defrost drain until the baking soda mixture runs freely into the drain. If you see any food debris or objects blocking the drain, remove as necessary.

    Drain Pan

    • The drain pan underneath the refrigerator can eventually wear out or become damaged, which allows water to leak out of the pan. Unplug the refrigerator and lift off the toe grille to access the drain pan. Disconnect and remove the drain pan if the pan is overflowing; then empty the pan and return. If the pan is damaged and leaking, contact Samsung for a replacement pan or service.
