Removing a KitchenAid Superba Side-by-Side Ice Maker Front Panel

The front panel of a KitchenAid Superba ice maker protects the wiring assemblies that connect the ice and water dispenser paddles with the control panel and dispenser motors. You might want to remove the panel if you suspect the wiring is faulty; difficulty dispensing ice or water could be caused by a wiring issue. You can also access the parts connecting the dispenser paddles to the refrigerator to install replacements.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the refrigerator or remove the fuse or circuit breaker. The power must be disconnected before you begin work.

    • 2

Pull out the drip tray below the ice and water nozzles and place it to one side. Locate the small slots on the bottom edge of the panel.

    • 3

Insert a flathead screwdriver into each of the slots and pry the panel outward. The panel pops open revealing the wiring connections.

    • 4

Separate the two parts of the plastic wiring connection located between the wires on the back of the panel and the rest of wiring. The front panel comes off the refrigerator.
