How to Remove the Front of the Water Dispenser on Amana Refrigerators

Many Amana refrigerator models have an ice and water dispenser located on the front of the freezer door. The dispenser has many mechanical parts, and an electronic control panel, all of which may require service at one point. The dispenser is secured to the housing using several screws, which are covered by the front panel. Amana refrigerators are manufactured by Whirlpool, and like most Whirlpool refrigerators, the front panel is secured using tabs rather than screws, making it quick to remove for repairs to the dispenser or control panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet, or turn off the breaker in your service panel.

    • 2

Look on the underside of the front panel for a flat pry slot.

    • 3

Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the pry slot, and gently pry the dispenser front panel away from the front of the refrigerator. Use a great deal of care to avoid scratching the surface of the refrigerator.

Remove the wire connector from the rear of the front panel, if applicable to your model, and then set the front panel aside.
