Tilt a 5-gallon bucket under the water dispenser to begin flushing the refrigerator's water system. Press and hold the dispenser pad for five seconds, then release it. Don't hold down the pad continuously. Instead, press the pad for five seconds on, and then release the pad for five seconds off. For many Kenmore Elite refrigerator models, you should stop filling the bucket at 3 gallons. This completes the flushing process. Discard the water.
Put a 1-cup container on the water dispenser tray. Make sure it does not hang off the front of the tray and that it is centered.
Press the "Settings" and "Lock" buttons at the same time on the control panel. Hold them both down for three seconds. Look for the following words to show on the LCD display screen: "Back" and "1 Cup." Also, look for the "Calibration" light or indicator to come on. This means that the adjustment or calibration of the measure filled feature is beginning.
Press the water dispenser pad with one of your hands, allowing water to flow into the container on the tray. Fill the container to the 1-cup measuring line and then release the pad.
Find the word "Confirm" on the control panel display. Press the "Measured Fill" button that is below this word. This completes the calibration process, which makes adjustments to account for the water pressure coming into the Kenmore Elite refrigerator.
Press the "Measured Fill" button when you are ready to use this feature. Choose your settings and temperature on the control panel. Place your glass under the pad to begin dispensing water.
