How to Remove the Door Handle Trim on a Frigidaire Side-by-Side Refrigerator

Frigidaire has been producing high-quality appliances since it introduced its first electric refrigerator in 1913. Today's Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators include handles that you can quickly remove without taking off the entire door. If you are moving your refrigerator through a narrow doorway or other space, taking off the handles may help it fit through.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the refrigerator and open the door on one side. This makes it easier to access the retaining screws for the handle on the opposite door.

    • 2

Hold the handle of the closed door firmly against the surface of the refrigerator. You may need an assistant to help you apply pressure to the handle so you can keep both hands free. Remove the two hex screws at the end of each handle with an Allen wrench. Slide the handle off the shoulder bolts that are pre-installed in the refrigerator door.

    • 3

Close the door and open the door on the other side of the refrigerator. Repeat Step Two to remove the handle trim for the second door. Use the same process to remove the handle from the freezer drawer, if applicable to your particular Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator model.
