How to Troubleshoot the Temperature in a GE Profile Arctica

The correct temperature inside a GE Profile Arctica Refrigerator keeps salads crisp, dairy products fresh, and juices and sodas refreshingly cool. If the temperature is too high, salads quickly become limp, dairy products become sour, and drinks lose their thirst-quenching coolness. If the temperature is too low, ice forms on salads, while milk, juices and sodas start to solidify. It is important to correct any temperature problems as soon as you notice them. Otherwise, you may have to dispose of food and drinks.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your GE Profile Arctica's controls if either the refrigerator or its freezer compartment appears to be too warm or too cold. The setting required to maintain the correct temperature depends on the conditions in which the appliance is operating, as well as your own personal preferences. Warm conditions around the refrigerator require the use of a lower temperature setting. In cold conditions, raise the temperature inside the refrigerator to avoid food becoming partially, or totally, frozen.

Lower the temperature setting on your GE Profile's controls if the area in which you live experiences warm weather. It is also important to keep the temperature as low as possible if the refrigerator's doors are opened frequently. Frequent door opening allows warm air to enter the appliance. If your neighbourhood experiences a cold snap, raise the temperature inside your refrigerator. However, do not do this if your domestic heating maintains a constantly high temperature in the vicinity of the appliance.

Ensure the door is closed if ice crystals form on any of the items stored in your refrigerator. Packages within the refrigerator should not prevent the door from closing properly. Ice is a sign of the door being opened too frequently or staying open for too long on any one occasion.
